Sweep. Scrub. PolishGet Ready to Lighten Up
We love June. It's the time of year, when we were kids, that welcomed the end of classroom days and the beginning of afternoons swimming at the lake and ice cream cones shared with our best friends 4-ever.

With so many dear customers and friends away up north, June signals a time for us to lighten up at our shop, at home and at play. The ever-present feeling of relaxation, that we're somehow on vacation—even if we aren't packing our travel bags—has arrived.

Daydreaming about a summer holiday, we found ourselves in the exotic South Seas, sitting on the beaches of Bali and Fiji. So inspired by our virtual voyage, we've transformed our shop with colors, fabrics, home- and lifestyle collections, orchids and plants that recreate this idyllic fantasy destination.

Seems we've caught our first glimpse of summer's finest asset: lazy days that are made for slowing down and creative reflection. Can ice cream cones, best friends 4-ever and great escapes be far behind?

The Great EscapeBlooming Vandas
Outdoor living throughout the year is just one of the many perks of living in a climate like ours. If you find yourself relaxing outside on your front terrace or backyard lanai from sunrise to sunset, it's time to introduce a a few hanging Vandas to your home.

Warm summer temperatures, 8-10 hours of daily filtered sunlight (southern exposure is ideal), lots of heavy waterings along with frequent gentle mistings are the optimal conditions to keep your Vanda orchids healthy and blooming—which can be up to 2 or 3 times a year. Vanda blooms are large, come in a variety of colors and markings and will last from 4 to 6 weeks.

Blooming VandasBeautiful, locally grown Vanda orchids are now in bloom and available at our shop.

Our Orchid Tip: Vandas thoroughly enjoy hanging under trees or lanai cages. Placed in wooden slat baskets without any potting medium, water quickly drains while roots dangle below the plants to capture any available moisture in the air. When it's time to repot your Vanda, simply place the old wooden basket into a new one that is one size larger. That's it, you're done!

Isn't It RomanticIsn't It Romantic
Forget about passports, airports and time zone changes. Make your home a retreat from the every day. Start with candlelight that has a soothing effect on everything and everybody. At dinner time, set your table for friendly intimacy with our new clay candleholders. Clover-shaped openings allow flickering light to illuminate and dance across your tabletop. When dinner's done, they become great exotic looking planters for your orchids or ferns indoors and out.

Isn't It RomanticSmall, medium and large size candleholders in rustic teal or white (with flower-shaped cut-outs) allow you to mix and match to your heart's content.

Our Tip: Light the way to your front door. Just before guests are due to arrive, place several candleholders--inserted with battery operated candles--along your outdoor walkway.
