Statement PiecesComings and Goings
Mixed emotions greet us this month. April days are brighter and longer. With more daylight, busy work days end with supper on the lanai watching the sun set or short walks through the neighborhood catching up with friends.

Finding ourselves in the midst of spring fever we're set to refresh and lighten things up all around us. Tables and shelves breathe a sigh of calming relief. No longer filled to overflowing, they shine with the serene confidence that one or two large statement pieces can bring to a space. Colors indoors are chosen to reflect a clean palette that runs from cypress green to sea mist blue seen everywhere outdoors.

But, as all of us on the Southwest Coast of Florida know, April signals a time of departure, too. Many cherished friends and dear customers return North for summer season. Our days here slow. Family visits and gatherings are replaced by quiet evenings at home and tackling to do lists. Simplicity and refinement call and, guess what? We're ready to answer!

Safe and Happy Travels from All of Us at Awesome Orchids

Leave the Lamp Lights On
Lamp Lamp Lamp
Cherish a spring glow in your home with these perfectly sized sculptural accent lamps. Dressed up in organically textured shades of burlap and linen they'll cast a soothing light on your bedside table, entryway console and even your open-concept kitchen counter. Special details like fleur de lys finials, gracefully twisted bases and stitched-on bead trimming make each of these lamps current-day collector's items. Tonight, turn off those too bright ceiling lights and turn on a soft, illuminating lamp light or two.

You're Invited
Our annual Sidewalk Sale takes place this Saturday, April 21st from 10am to 4pm, rain or shine. Stop by our shop in historic Burns Square for fantastic fun and awesome savings. Make your calendar, save the date and bring a friend!

BromeliadInspired by Bromeliads
Large bromeliads set a tropical tone on walkways, gardens and foyers up and down Florida's Coast. This season, update your table settings indoors and out with small bromeliads. An exotic alternative to cut flowers, cluster or align a trio or more of these lush plants for a colorful gathering table centerpiece. And, because of their low height, guests continue to see one another while dining at your warm and welcoming table.

Our tips: For a twist on an old favorite, mix in two or three bromeliads with your in bloom orchid for an out of the ordinary arrangement.

Not sure what to do with smaller containers that don't fit your potted bromeliad? Remove the grower pot, recover with a plastic bag and then carefully tuck your plant into its new home.

Less Can Really Be More
Baluster White Gloss Containers
Restoring calm starts with reducing and decluttering. After assessing what's most meaningful, Martha suggests introducing a few bold, graphic elements, allowing them to take center stage in your home. Balusters with the patina of a previously lived life magestically add a rich dimension to any room. Large regal white gloss containers and architecturally fluted vessels pair together to focus your attention. And, a new, but made to look worn, black and white unframed canvas (a selection of framed artwork is also available) is simply striking hung on your wall.
